MORLEY – A 24-year-old Stoney Nakoda man is facing 26 charges after police responded to a call for shots being fired from a vehicle Aug. 17.
RCMP said the report came in shortly after a break and enter in Cochrane followed by gunshots at two men from a vehicle on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.
Police said they found the stolen vehicle that was used in the shooting and attempted to halt the vehicle at a traffic stop. The vehicle and its occupants fled the scene, but were located by Cochrane RCMP and its crime reduction unit and police dog services.
Police recovered a stolen firearm and Malik Holloway was charged with a number of offences, including two counts of discharging a firearm with intent, two counts of pointing a firearm, break and enter with the intent to steal a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm.
Holloway was also wanted by Calgary Police Service for unrelated firearm offences.
Police said he had been remanded into custody and will appear at Cochrane Provincial Court on Sept. 20.
