Three people charged following one of largest drug seizures ever in Cold Lake area

A large amount of suspected drugs have been seized following a long-term drug trafficking investigation.

COLD LAKE - Six separate search warrants executed on Feb. 25 have resulted in one of the largest drug seizures ever made in the Cold Lake area.

RCMP say they have wrapped up a long-term drug trafficking investigation dubbed Project K-NANOSECOND, which resulted in the seizure of one kilogram of suspected cocaine, one kilogram of suspected fentanyl, 23 firearms, two vehicles and $68,000 in Canadian currency.

"With the assistance of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) in Lloydminster and Edmonton, Cold Lake GIS embarked on an investigation into a group of individuals trafficking cocaine, which has resulted in one of the largest drug seizures ever made in Cold Lake and surrounding area," reads information released by RCMP on March 5.

Three people have been charged by RCMP.

Francois Poulet, 31, of Cold Lake, has been charged with possession fo a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possessio of proceeds of crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Nicholas Deboeck, 33, from Ardmore has been charged with trafficking of a controlled substance.

Poulet, Pike, and Deboeck were held for a Judicial Interim Hearing and released with conditions to appear in court in Cold Lake on March 19.
