Two Westlock residents have been arrested following a crime spree that involved a break and enter at a home, and windows of vehicles shot out in town.

The first incident was on Aug. 24. Westlock RCMP had received reports of a break-in at a home near the Hamlet of Pibroch, and theft from a vehicle where a firearm was used to shoot out the window to gain access. In both incidents, the suspects were said to be driving a blue Dodge truck.

The next day, Westlock RCMP investigated two reports that windows of parked vehicles had been shot out in Westlock. One victim described a blue Dodge seen in the area.

Soon after this incident on Aug. 25, Athabasca RCMP attempted a traffic stop of a blue Dodge truck. The driver of the truck fled and hit a police car in the process. Officers pursued the fleeing vehicle until it stopped in a wheat field. Two suspects fled and one had a firearm. They were both located nearby and arrested.

Police searched the area and found a firearm. They found stolen items inside the truck that were from the break, enter and theft from a vehicle. They also found another firearm, ammunition and methamphetamine.

Dustin Tyler Moes, 38, has been charged with nine weapons-related offences, break and enter, four counts of mischief, two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm, theft under $5,000, flight from police, assault of a police officer, obstruction, dangerous driving, and theft of a vehicle.

Tristen Laroche, 22, has been charged with nine weapons-related offences, two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm, obstruction, dangerous driving, theft of a vehicle, two counts of breach of probation, three counts of mischief, and break and enter.

Both Moes and Laroche had appearances scheduled in Westlock Court of Justice Aug. 28. They were remanded in custody with their matters adjourned to Sept. 4.
