The tires of a Village of Beiseker employee’s vehicle were slashed this past Saturday at approximately 2 a.m., according to a social media post from the municipality.
Airdrie RCMP confirmed that the incident was being investigated.
“There were actually three tires slashed on one vehicle, (that) being an SUV,” said Cpl. James McConnell, media relations officer for the detachment. “And my understanding is the person (whose vehicle was attacked) worked for the Village.”
According to the Village of Beiseker’s Facebook post, the attack appeared to be targeted.
“Given the circumstances, and a review of the footage, both the employee and the RCMP are taking this as a personal, targeted attack on both the employee and their family,” a statement released on Saturday read. “It is extremely disheartening that anyone would cause this kind of damage to any other person.”
The post on the Village’s page went on to speculate about the possibility the vandalism may have been a “vendetta” attack against the employee.
“It is extremely disheartening that anyone would cause this kind of damage to any other person,” the municipality reiterated. “At this point in time, we are not sure that the attack was due to a vendetta against this person because of their employment responsibilities with the Village, but either way, the act itself is reprehensible.”
McConnell said the RCMP could not confirm if the attack was targeted at the time of writing, but is exploring all options.
“We are investigating all avenues,” he said. “The investigation is ongoing. We encourage any member of the public who sees any suspicious activity to give us a call.”
