SASKATOON – A woman accused of uttering a death threat against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in October made her first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court Thursday.
Marly Dansereau appeared in person. Defence lawyer Steven Larocque, who is a former North Battleford regional Crown Prosecutor, asked the court for an adjournment. Larocque appeared as an agent for defence lawyer Logan Marchand. He told the court that Marchand had just received disclosure and needed time to review it.
Crown Prosecutor Paul Goldstein didn't object. When the judge adjourned the matter to Dec. 14, Dansereau showed respect for the court and said "Thank you your honour."
In October, RCMP charged Dansereau with uttering threats to cause harm or death to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Videos on an informal group chat between Alberta and Saskatchewan residents, which some in the chat didn't know was being secretly recorded and then posted online, show Dansereau making comments that Trudeau had been only a few hours away from her and if someone paid her to take time off work she would "do it."
The charge against Dansereau hasn’t been tested in court.
