Woman killed in Canmore in hit-and-run on Highway 1

A 20-year-old woman was killed in a hit and run on the Trans-Canada Highway near Canmore.

CANMORE, ALBERTA – A 20-year-old Canmore woman was struck and killed on the Trans-Canada Highway in Canmore.

Police are investigating the hit-and-run that took place on Sunday morning (May 1), which occurred in the eastbound lane near the Canmore Visitor Information Centre.

"A 20-year-old female from Canmore was declared deceased at the scene," an RCMP media press release said.

Eastbound traffic on Highway 1 has fully re-opened.
