The initial break in one of Calgary's water main feeders that a water emergency over a week ago has been fully repaired and work crews are now focusing on the five hotpots that require repair.
Heavy equipment is arriving today to the site to fix the five hotpsots identified in the feeder on Friday and Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek noted those repairs have begun. Crews will work on the hotspots concurrently.
Parts for the repairs have been secured and are either on their way to Calary or already there.
On Friday evening, the City still needed to drain a 300 metre sector of the feeder main to be inspected, the robotic review of that section indicated no other compromised spots.
Gondek urged Calgarians and resident of affected communities like Airdrie to continue conserving water for the coming few weeks but said they were able to reduce their water use over the weekend.
Airdrie, as well as Calgary, remains under a stage four outdoor water restriction.
