BOWDEN - Three Town of Bowden council members are being recognized this fall for serving 20 or more years on municipal council.

Mayor Robb Stuart and councillors Paul Webb and Wayne Milaney are among nine recipients to be recognized with an Alberta Municipalities Distinguished Service Award in 2024.

Each year at the Alberta Municipalities Annual Convention and Trade Show, outstanding municipal professionals from across Alberta are awarded for their collaboration, dedication and commitment to excellence, says Alberta Municipalities.

“It is my honour and pleasure to recognize these outstanding individuals at Alberta Municipalities’ convention in Red Deer,” said Alberta Municipalities president Tyler Gandam. “Communities can only succeed when they are supported by dedicated professionals who are committed to the residents they serve. It is by recognizing these people that we express our gratitude and show our appreciation for what they do every day to make our communities thrive.”

Stuart was first elected to the Town of Bowden council as a councillor in 2004. He served six years as councillor before being elected mayor in 2010. He is currently serving his fourth term as mayor.

Webb is currently serving his third term as a Town of Bowden councillor, having first been elected in the town in 2013. Previous to Bowden, he served three terms as a councillor with the Town of Sundre.

Milaney is currently in his fifth term as a councillor with the Town of Bowden.

They will officially receive their awards on Sept. 24 at the Red Deer Resort and Casino.
