BOWDEN – Members of Red Deer County Fire Station 7 in Bowden were among those recently recognized for their service, outstanding contributions, dedication and bravery.
Red Deer County held an inaugural Protective Services Awards Gala on Jan. 11 where people from all divisions of the county’s Protective Services department, including fire-rescue, emergency management and patrol were honoured.
“Thank you to every one of our members, their families, their friends, and their employers who support them in serving Bowden, Delburne, Elnora, and the county with an unwavering commitment to making our world a better and safer place,” said Dave Brand, the county's director of Community and Protective Services in a press release issued Friday.
Recipients of 57 awards and medals were celebrated during the event and retired members were given a special acknowledgement.
Recognition bestowed upon members of Red Deer County Fire Station 7 in Bowden include:
• firefighters Laurie Fate and Cole Hunter – two-year service award;
• platoon chief Derrick Campbell – 12-year Alberta Emergency Service Medal; and
• firefighter Jason Sahli - Western Battalion Awards Firefighter of the Year.
