BOWDEN — On Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m., Town of Bowden council plans to meet to determine its priorities.
Mayor Robb Stuart says one idea is to look at increasing bylaw enforcement hours. It’s an idea that’s come up before.
During an interview with the Albertan, Stuart noted that under a current agreement with Red Deer County, bylaw officers patrol the town for 10 hours a month.
“They write a few tickets for unregistered vehicles or whatever,” he said. “(The) discussion is to decide if we need more hours.”
Stuart said one issue he’d like to see addressed is big trucks like semi-trailers parking in the commercial area along Heritage Drive, off Highway 2.
“A lot of times, the trucks parked up the highway here block the driving lanes,” he said. "They they're supposed to park out (by) the guardrail there, but a lot of times they park right in front of the buildings.
“It's not a big deal, but they are, and they should ticket them if they're there.
“It's not a problem all the time, but some people start doing it, then you see it more and more.
“The county has a lot more authority than our bylaw officer.”
