OLDS — RCMP are asking for help to find the suspects believed responsible for two break-and-enters in Bowden.
On Feb. 15, just before midnight, a male and female suspect damaged a door as they forced entry into the St. Matthews Anglican Church Thrift Store in Bowden.
“The suspects proceeded to gather duffel bags from the store, and loaded up with various goods including clothing and paintings before taking off on foot with the stolen merchandise,” Cpl. Courney Harding says.
The male suspect is described as having a heavy build. He was wearing a hooded jacket and a mask.
The female suspect is described as wearing a hooded jacket, mask, glasses, and “very distinguishable” checkered snow pants.
Olds RCMP suspect the same couple are responsible for a break and enter into the Bowden Pioneer Museum, located about a block away from the church. That break-in is believed to have occurred within the last week.
“Suspect(s) forced entry into a door, and then proceeded to help themselves to various artifacts from the museum. While inside, suspects caused extensive damage to various display counters,” Harding wrote in an email.
RCMP believe the suspects likely loaded that stolen property into a truck.
Harding expressed great sympathy for the impact the thefts have had.
“The Bowden Historical Society works hard to provide these services to the town of Bowden and visitors and take great pride in the work they have done for the community,” Harding says.
