BOWDEN – RCMP are seeking the public’s help in finding three suspects believed to have beat up and robbed a teen as he lay helpless on the ground.
At about 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 24 Olds RCMP received a complaint of an armed robbery in Bowden, said Olds RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim MacDonald in a media release issued today.
He said a 19-year-old male reported he was walking to meet a friend near the Lions Community Hall when he was approached by two males. MacDonald said a third person stood nearby.
MacDonald said the males demanded the teen victim get on the ground and then proceeded to punch and slap him.
He said both suspects appeared to be carrying hand guns or BB pistols. The assailants searched the victim while he was on the ground and took his wallet before fleeing, said MacDonald. He said the victim received minor injuries.
MacDonald said police officers from Olds immediately attended with the assistance of Mounties from the Sundre and Innisfail detachments. He added Police Dog Services out of Red Deer also attended the scene but were unsuccessful in obtaining a track for the suspects. MacDonald said the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Services also assisted with the investigation.
The three suspects, all believed to be in their teens or early 20s, are described as:
• suspect 1: taller Caucasian male, slender, wearing a black mask, dark jeans and a yellow hooded sweatshirt with a dark sweater or vest on top
• suspect 2: taller male, slender, wearing a medical mask with a black mask, a red shirt or hoodie and grey or tan-coloured pants
• suspect 3: unknown if a male or female, about five feet, five inches tall and heavier set
At this time, RCMP believe the attack was targetted, said MacDonald, adding there does not appear to be a safety concern for the general public.
