CARSTAIRS/DIDSBURY/CREMONA — There are Canada Day activities planned in Carstairs, Cremona and Didsbury, officials said.

In Didsbury, the Great Canadian Scavenger Hunt runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and no registration is required.

“This scavenger hunt takes place outside, so dress for the weather and please adhere to current public health restrictions,” officials said. “We suggest using a vehicle to reach your locations as they may be too far in distance for children to walk or bike.”

The hunt begins throughout the day at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.

“There, you’ll find your starting location, your tracking sheet, and a clipboard.”

There will also be activities at the Didsbury Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Step back in time and explore Didsbury and Canada’s history within the museum, and check out the fantastic model train and railway outside. Pack a picnic and enjoy the Carillon bells playing O Canada at noon.”

Fireworks will take place at about 10:30 p.m. at the Didsbury Memorial Park on 16th Street.

In Carstairs, there will be a bike rodeo at the arena from 9 - 11 a.m. for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 4. Pre-registration is required, which can be done on the town’s website.

Following the bike rodeo, the kids will ride their cycles in a parade to Memorial Park.

There will be games set up for kids and families in the park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Families are being encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to the park for an afternoon of visiting.

At dusk, fireworks will be held at the golf course. The display should be visible throughout town and there will be parking west of the golf course. The golf course patio will also be open late for anyone interested in watching the fireworks from there.

In Cremona, there will be a free wiener roast on the west side of the community hall from 4 - 8 p.m. Donations to the food bank will be accepted.

Mayor Tim Hagen says there will be other family activities in the village as well, including a bouncy tent for the kids.

Fireworks will be held at the ball diamonds, starting at dusk.
