CARSTAIRS — The 2022-23 Carstairs and Community Curling Club season officially gets underway Nov. 1, with members looking forward to a full season for the first time since 2019, says president Craig Vatcher.
While the club is still accepting registrations, Vatcher estimates about 140 members will be in the club this season, back to pre-COVID numbers.
“We are still accepting registrations on paper and online through the end of October,” he said.
Bonspiels planned for this season include a Fund-spiel fundraiser in late November, Grannies’ at the beginning of January, Ladies’ at the end of January, Men’s at beginning of February, Elks Open in early March, Juniors on March 25, and the Mixed wrap-up at end of March.
The exact dates of the bonspiels are still being worked out, he said.
“We are all looking forward to a full season,” said Vatcher. “Everyone is very excited.”
The club will be working with the Ag Society to raise funds to upgrade some of the infrastructure this season, such as the building’s hot water tanks and furnaces, he said.
There are a few new additions to the board with most of the past members returning to serve in 2020-23, he said.
