Carstairs figure skating carnival tasted great

This year’s theme was “Food, Oh Glorious Food” with skating programs following the theme throughout the two-act show in Carstairs

CARSTAIRS - The Memorial Arena was filled to near capacity on Sunday for the Carstairs Figure Skating Club’s annual carnival.

This year’s theme was “Food, Oh Glorious Food” with skating programs following the theme throughout the two-act show.

The program included many individual and group performances with names such as “Chickens”, “Coffee”, “Pizza Delivery” “Farmers”, “Chefs”, “Gummy Bears”, “Veggies”, “Tutti Fruitti”, “Popcorn”, “Candy Girls”, “Sugar Plum” and “French Fries."

The Novice Synchronized Skating Team, the Pre-Novice Synchronized Skating Team, the Elementary Synchronized Skating Team, the Starskaters, the Juvenile Synchronized Skating Team, and the Junior Synchronized Skating Team performed, as well as beginners.

Individuals skaters included Emma Schill, Kaitlyn Lupas, Hayley Glass, Kaylee Schwartz, Grace Bauer, Jenna Cullum, Jessa Sackett, Hannah Glass, Ashley Ijtsma, Makenna Fuhriman, Kendra Dowden, Avarie Rosteski, Kiera Dowden, Emersyn Falloon, Honour Terpstra, Danica Copley, Sydney Schiissler, Holly Rosteski, Naomi Killam, and Brooke Bednarz.

Coaches this year included Andrea St. Cyr, Charlsey Whittemore, Amber Dubitz, Callie Manko, Jenna Cullum, and Ashley Ijtsma. 

Justin St. Cyr was the master of ceremonies, Hannah Glass sang O’Canada, and the flag runners were Brooke Bednarz and Danica Copley.
