Carstairs Nature Space receives valuable support

Scarecrow Trail event featured a kids craft table, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin roll event down the toboggan hill, a fun run for adults and children, and a chainsaw carving demonstration

CARSTAIRS - The Carstairs and District Agricultural Society recently hosted the second annual Scarecrow Trail event at the Carstairs Nature Space.

The public event was held, in part, to recognize some recent major donors who are providing support for enhancement of the popular outdoor facility, located on the town’s southside.

Inga Owens made a donation on behalf of herself and her late husband Murray, who passed away in 2019. The donation will allow the Carstairs Nature Space committee to plant three large pods of trees along the west side of the facility.

Bruce and Joyce Ing have donated two new benches for the top of the facility’s toboggan hill, one facing sunrise and one facing sunset. They also contributed to the Demonstration Vegetable Garden.

Brent Trottier also made a donation that will be used to construct a large covered meeting area where friends and families can gather to visit.

Other activities during the Scarecrow Trail event were a kids craft table, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin roll event down the toboggan hill, a fun run for adults and children, and a chainsaw carving demonstration.

More than Scarecrows were set around the area by business and individuals to see as people walked through and visited the Nature Space.
