Carstairs pickleball clinic supports the sport

CARSTAIRS - In conjunction with the Town of Carstairs, the Carstairs Pickleball Club hosted a free try-it event put on by Pickleball Alberta on June 19 to help promote youth pickleball. 

In all, 23 kids aged six to 14 years old from Carstairs and surrounding communities attended the event, held at the recently renovated pickleball courts in Memorial Park.

Coaches Serena Goutbeck of Okotoks, Claudia Solito of Cochrane, Murray Young of Calgary, and members of the Carstairs Pickleball Club, instructed the youths and had them practice different skills before playing some games.

“The event was intended to allow participants the opportunity to try the game before possibly taking a series of four clinics

Pickleball Alberta will be putting one on in Carstairs in July, organizers said.
