CARSTAIRS - Hundreds of residents and visitors of all ages attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs Monday morning.

As every year, the local service was put on by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #53 in Carstairs.

Wreaths of remembrance were placed by dignitaries, government officials, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans, RCMP, peace officers, firefighters, army and airforce cadets, service club members, Guides, Brownies, Scouts and others.

Silver Cross Mother Susan Curnow also placed a wreath of remembrance at the cenotaph in the school gymnasium again this year.

The service included performances from the Hugh Sutherland School Choir and a slideshow about Indigenous soldiers.

Legion Branch members and Ladies Auxiliary members were involved in putting on the service, which included recognition of past members who have recently passed away.
