CARSTAIRS - A 33-year-old Carstairs woman has been charged with second degree murder following a fatal motor vehicle incident that took the life of a 40-year-old Calgary man in August.
Bronwyn Hannah-Jane Luckham was arrested in Calgary on Sept. 2, and has now been charged, police said Tuesday.
On Aug. 30, shortly after 8:30 p.m., Drayton Valley RCMP responded to a call for assistance at the local hospital.
On arrival, police determined an adult male had been dropped off outside the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The victim was able to provide some information prior to succumbing to his injuries in hospital.
The victim has been identified as Jonathan James Paul.
RCMP said Drayton Valley RCMP General Investigation Section has been able to locate the scene of a collision at a farm in Breton and police do not believe this was a random act.
RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken charge of the ongoing investigation.
The public is being asked to provide information regarding the location of the victim’s vehicle, the identity of those responsible, who dropped the victim off at the hospital, dash camera footage or surveillance footage that may have the victim’s vehicle travelling from Breton to Drayton Valley on Aug. 30, between 7 and 8:30 p.m, or otherwise witnessed or was involved in this incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment at 780-542-4456.
After an in-custody judicial hearing, Luckham has been remanded in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on Sept. 9.
