CREMONA - Village of Cremona council has approved Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) funding to community groups totalling $7,250.
The move came by way of motions at the Feb. 15 council meeting.
The Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society received $1,000. The society provides one-on-one support and group support to victims and survivors of family violence, with an outreach coordinator in Cremona once a month, council heard.
The Olds & District Hospice Society received $500. The funds will be used for volunteer training and recognition, marketing and promotion of services and programs.
Chinook’s Edge School Division received $3,000. The funds will be used for the Family School Wellness program, a school-based comprehensive social support initiative.
CESD will also receive $1,000 to support the Youth Empowerment and Support program designed to build emotional and mental health strength in all students and their families.
Chinooks Arch Victim's Services Society will receive $1,500. The funds will be used for volunteer training, with volunteers requiring specific initial training and ongoing support to offer effective support to people experiencing trauma.
Mountain View Communities Adult Learning Society will receive $250. The funds will be used for the Bookworm Babies and Getting Back to Work program to develop parent/child relationships and increasing parenting skills.
