CREMONA – The new members of council who were voted in following the recent byelection were sworn in last week.

With the council’s quorum now restored, the municipality can resume conducting regular business without the administrator previously appointed by Municipal Affairs.

Mayor Robert Reid was sworn in on Wednesday, Dec. 11 during a special meeting alongside councillors Derald Anderson and Eric Martin, according to the meeting’s unofficial minutes.

The Nov. 25 byelection was called following a process that began late this summer after council was left without quorum.

In August, former mayor Tim Hagen as well as deputy mayor Joe Canaday and Coun. Jody Dick submitted their resignations. Councillors Shane Goebel and Autumn Schmidt had remained on the council, which at the time was left without quorum and thus no longer had the legislative authority to make decisions or take any actions.

Council’s next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Agenda items include the appointment of deputy mayor, a request submitted by the Country Fellowship Church for a partial road closure on First Avenue for a performance on Dec. 20-21, the 2025 interim budget as well as numerous administrative and board and committee reports.
