New school playground equipment upgrades opened in Cremona

New playground equipment, which cost about $75,000, includes slides, climbing elements and spinners, replaces an out-of-date one

CREMONA — Officials held a grand opening of upgraded playground at Cremona School during the school 's Back to School BBQ on Sept. 5.

Members of the Cremona School Enhancement Society, the Cremona Lions and Mountain View County officially opened a new playground at the Cremona School.

The playground was funded by donations including from the Village of Cremona in the amount of $5,000. Mountain View County donated $20,000 and Cremona Lions donated $10,000.

School principal Darryl Korody explained that the new playground upgrade, which includes slides, climbing elements and spinners, replaces out-of-date equipment.

“The kids love it,” Korody told the Albertan. “When we opened it the kids ran for it and are giving it rave reviews. And I’ve heard that from the parents too.”

The total cost of the project was about $75,000, he said.
