Two area businesswomen have been nominated for Alberta Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) awards.
The not-for-profit organization announced today that a record-breaking 242 women have been nominated for the 2020 instalment of the annual awards.
AWE provides unique programs and services to women entrepreneurs through access to markets, mentorship and capital. It is supported by both the Alberta and federal governments.
"The Alberta Women Entrepreneurs Awards showcases the diverse talents and accomplishments of Alberta’s women entrepreneurs,” says Shannon Pestun, director of women's entrepreneurship at ATB Financial. “ATB Financial is proud to support AWE and extend our congratulations to all of the nominees."
Among the nominees are the Cremona area’s Debora Rice-Salomons and Sundre’s Kim Free.
Free operates Small Town Girl Promotions providing social media support and content creation for small businesses.
Rice-Salomons is the founder of Mountain View Events. She operates The Heritage Centre just outside of Cremona that provides a venue for special occasions such as weddings, corporate functions, parties, galas and dances.
Out of the 242 nominations, over 140 of the nominees submitted a nomination package to be considered for the not-for-profit’s four awards that will be handed out at its celebration and dinner on April 23.
Nominated by their peers, AWE says these inspirational women are achieving growth and success in business, and making an impact on the economy and their community.
