DIDSBURY - A health-care planning engagement session planned to take place at the Memorial Complex in Didsbury on Friday morning has been postponed in light of government plans announced last week to undertake a major overhaul of the province’s health-care system, officials said Wednesday.
“Last week the government of Alberta announced that they will be refocusing health care in Alberta,” Alberta Health Services (AHS) officials said. “In light of this, we are opting to postpone our engagement sessions and will be looking to reschedule them in the new year.”
AHS had announced several public planning engagement sessions, including in Rocky View County and Didsbury on Nov. 17 and in Airdrie Jan. 11, to garner public input for the updating of the Calgary Zone Healthcare Plan, which officials said would shape the high-level strategic vision and direction of the Calgary Zone for the next five to 10 years.
“The Calgary Zone Healthcare Plan will be the road map for decision-making and prioritization to provide quality, accessible and sustainable health services,” an Oct. 27 AHS release stated.
“The development of this plan will require a zone-wide approach, reaching into the communities served by the zone to understand their unique perspectives and priorities.”
The Together4Health online survey launched as part of the plan updating process remains open, and AHS is encouraging residents to take the survey.
