DIDSBURY - The Didsbury & District Chamber of Commerce has been key to the economic success of the town and continues to play an important role in the business community, Town of Didsbury Mayor Rhonda Hunter said during last week’s council meeting.
On the occasion of the chamber’s 60th anniversary in 2022, council officially recognized the organization’s contributions during last week’s council meeting.
The chamber is governed by an elected board of volunteers from different organizations, businesses and professions.
“They put in hundreds of hours working on projects to promote and support business in Didsbury,” said Hunter. “As part of the community they are there to support one another and to support the vibrant business community. The chamber has a very active role.”
She commended past and present members for “all you do for our business community and Didsbury and congratulations on this milestone 60th anniversary.
“Founded by a group of strong entrepreneurs that through working together, our business community would strengthen and grow into the future, here we are 60 years later with a strong and vibrant business core that continues to grow even in the sometimes challenging economic environment.”
The Didsbury & District Chamber of Commerce was recently selected as the 2021 chamber of the year in the 50 to 99 member category, she said.
The chamber continues to support economic initiatives like Shop Local First, Country Christmas and the Didsbury business awards, she said.
Chamber president Helen Hafke accepted the congratulations of council at a brief ceremony during the council meeting.
Council passed a motion officially recognizing the achievements of the chamber since 1962.
