DIDSBURY - A 52-year-old Calgary woman is facing numerous charges after a traffic stop in Whitecourt determined the vehicle she was driving was stolen earlier from Didsbury, police said a release Tuesday.
At about 7:45 p.m. on April 18, Whitecourt RCMP officers on routine patrol in the northern Alberta community stopped a driver who was observed not wearing a seatbelt.
During the stop, police noticed the vehicle’s identification number did not match the registration and insurance documents.
Police then determined that the vehicle was stolen from Didsbury in 2022 and the driver was arrested.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 156 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 8.5 grams of suspected cocaine, seven grams of suspected hashish and break-in tools.
Amanda Lee McVittie from Calgary faces two charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break in tools, breach of undertaking, and four Traffic Safety Act violations.
She has been released on conditions and is to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Whitecourt on June 11.
