DIDSBURY - Town council has approved a plan for the Rosebud Valley Campground to be connected to the wastewater collection system, at an estimated cost of $20,000.
The move came by way of motion at the recent regularly schedule council meeting.
The municipally-owed campground, located on the town’s east side, is not currently hooked up to the town’s wastewater system. Instead, the washroom facilities are serviced from an onsite septic tank, which is maintained by a local contractor.
“In 2021 the cost to empty the septic system was approximately $7,100,” said Ethan Gorner, the town's chief administrative officer. “It is expect this cost will be $14,000 in 2022 as rates from the contractor have doubled.”
Administration recommended that the town complete the campground sanitary forcemain tie-in in 2022 and fund the costs of the connection from the campground reserve fund, he said.
The estimated cost of the project is $20,000, leaving the campground reserve with $11,918.
Council approved the project, to be funded though the campground reserve.
