DIDSBURY - The 2022-23 Didsbury Curling Club season gets underway with league play starting on Nov. 1.
As in 2021-22, the club will have men’s, mixed, sturling and juniors this time around.
The club’s registration night was Oct. 11 and as of last week there were 70 members registered.
“I think that number will change slightly before we actually get curling,” said club communications director Julie Gregg. “There are more who have simply called and said 'yeah, I'm curling,' but they haven’t actually registered yet. By this time next week we'll have a more accurate number.”
The club has several bonspiels in the works for this season.
“Bonspiels that we have planned this year so far are our open/mixed that will end off the season in mid-March,” she said. “We usually have a Family Day event that is popular and we will possibly hold a junior bonspiel.
“At present we are tentative about holding a men’s bonspiel but it’s certainly something we are considering. You can be sure we’ll have the March spiel, as well the Family Day spiel, the other two are tentative.”
Although the club doesn’t put on a Farm and Ranch bonspiel, it will be held at the Didsbury rink from January 2 - 7.
There are no significant changes or upgrades to the rink at the Didsbury Memorial Complex this season, she noted.
“Our ice technician has been at the rink putting the ice in for a few days and it will be ready for the end of the month,” she said.
