DIDSBURY - Town council has passed a bylaw establishing an economic development advisory committee.
The move also came by way of motion at the May 12 council meeting.
The committee will be made up of town councillors, as well as members of the local business community, including a chamber of commerce executive member, an entrepreneur, an investor, a commercial realty representative, a land developer, a youth member, and a tourism operator.
It will advise council on economic development matters, including ways to enhance the town’s economic viability, and its tasks will include providing feedback to the economic development officer that may be forwarded to council.
The committee will have the authority to form ad hoc committees and task forces to assist in carrying out its objectives and responsibilities. It does not have the power to pledge the credit of the town.
