Didsbury figure skaters get the job done

DIDSBURY - The Didsbury Figure Skating Club members and guests performed for a large and appreciative crowd at the Didsbury Memorial Complex March 23.

Called ‘When I Grow Up’, the two-part, year-end show saw CanSkate Wednesday Blue members perform International Harvester, CanSkate Wednesday Orange members perform ‘9 to 5’, and CanSkate Wednesday Purple members perform Just Like Fire.

As well, CanSkate Monday Purple members performed Hot Chocolate, CanSkate Monday Orange members performed We Built This City, and CanSkate Monday Blue members performed Fly Away.

Solo performances were made by Porsha Duckworth, Brynley Mierke, Lexus Kennelly, Emma Cooper, Breonna Stewart, Kenzie Duggan, Laura Jansen and Sienna Cooper.

The Three Hills Pre-Novice Synchro Team also performed, as did Intro To StarSkate members and the StarSkate Group.

The finale featured all the day’s skaters performing together.

The skaters were coached by Courtney Campbell and Ashley Ijtsma, with program assistants Cooper, Duckworth, Jansen, Carrie Jensen, Kennelly, Mierke and Stewart.

Gordie Stuart performed the national anthem.

Event organizers thanked volunteers, board members, arena staff, family members and others for making the show possible.
