DIDSBURY - There has been a COVID-19 case identified at the Didsbury hospital, Alberta Health officials said.
An outbreak was declared on the acute care unit at the facility on Feb. 7.
“One patient linked to this unit has tested positive for COVID-19,” officials said. “At this time visitation to this hospital unit is restricted to designated support persons and end-of-life situations.
“We encourage families to continue to meet virtually with their loved ones.”
In order to minimize any risk of transmission to and from outside the hospital, restrictions are now in place.
Under those restrictions, any patient with symptoms, or who has tested positive for COVID-19, is isolated and treated in designated rooms.
Officials have not said whether the patient is male or female or how old the patient is.
It is the second outbreak declared at the hospital since the pandemic began.
An outbreak was declared on Dec. 10, 2020 also in the acute care unit of the Didsbury hospital.
One health-care worker linked to the unit tested positive for COVID-19 as had one patient linked to the unit, Alberta Health Services (AHS) confirmed in a provincial outbreak update. It was not immediately known when the outbreak was declared over.
