DIDSBURY – The Didsbury Municipal Library was one of many community partners distributing free masks as part of the Masks for Albertans program.
More than 40 million free non-medical masks were distributed to Albertans in June and July.
By partnering with A&W, McDonald’s Canada, Tim Hortons and community partners in transit services, First Nations communities and Metis Settlements, places of worship and others, provincial officials say they saved about $35 million for packaging, shipping and distribution of the masks.
“These masks are part of the Masks for Albertans program and coordinated by Alberta Municipal Affairs public library services branch,” said library manager Monique Fiedler. “By supplying masks, we are supporting local access to a tool that assists in preventing the spread of COVID-19.”
The masks were available in packages of eight for community members, she said.
