DIDSBURY - A worker at the Didsbury Municipal Library received minor injuries when a vehicle crashed into the facility Monday afternoon, say police.
“At about 4 p.m. Didsbury RCMP responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision at the library, 2033 - 19th Ave. in downtown Didsbury,” said RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney.
Arriving at the scene, EMS, police and fire personnel found a Volkswagen Golf car had driven through the front window of the town’s library, she said.
“One of the workers inside the building received minor injuries and no one else was injured,” she said.
The 80-year-old driver of the vehicle was uninjured and has been ticketed for traffic offences, said Slaney.
Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the mishap, she said.
Due to damage to the building on Monday, May 29, the library has been closed until further notice.
Library board chair Melynda Crampton told the Albertan the library will be closed until at least Friday.
Crampton said the injured worker received bruises.
