DIDSBURY – The Town of Didsbury has plans in place for November utility bill notification if the Canada Post strike continues into December.
“If the strike continues past December 10, those people and businesses who are not signed up for e-billing will need to contact the Town (of Didsbury) for your November bill information,” a statement from the municipality on the postal strike says.
Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) rural suburban mail carriers (RSMC) and urban operations bargaining units went on strike Friday, Nov. 15.
Canada Post says mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike.
Some Town of Didsbury services may be affected by the Canada Post strike, the municipality says.
October utility bills were mailed on Nov. 6. Payments must be received by the last day of the month. All balances outstanding will receive a 1.5 per cent penalty each month.
“It is the responsibility of the resident or business to ensure payment is received on time to avoid late penalties; payments made by mail may not reach the Town (of Didsbury) office by the due date and will be considered late,” the municipality’s statement said.
Anyone who has not received the October utility bill mailed on Nov. 6 is asked to contact the Town of Didsbury.
Utility customers are encouraged to sign up for e-billing on the town’s website.
Bills may be paid in-person at the town office (1606 14 Street), through E-Gov on the Town of Didsbury’s website, or through a bank.
“Please note when paying through your financial institution, transactions can take 3-5 business days to reach the Town of Didsbury bank account,” the town’s statement says.
