DIDSBURY - Players, coaches and many family members attended the recent annual Didsbury Minor Hockey Association (DMHA) year-end banquet at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.
“We had a great season,” said DMHA president Brent Feenstra, noting the banquet included the presentation of awards for outstanding players on various teams.
On the U-7 Green team, Owen Moran won the most sportsmanlike award, Dalton Dorran won the most dedicated award, Isobelle Seiler won the most valuable player award, and Attycus Schmidt won the most improved award.
On the U-7 Black team, Emilia Sharkey won the most sportsmanlike award, Cache Evans won the most dedicated award, Connor Edwards won the most valuable player award, and Aiden Yoo won the most improved award.
On the U-9 A team, Blake Breuer won the most improved award, Cooper Yvon won the most dedicated award, Nolin Seiler won the most sportsmanlike award, and Presley Brander won the most valuable player award.
On the U-9 B team, Brandee Pearl won the most improved award, Carter Kamlah won the most dedicated award, Layne Murphy won the most sportsmanlike award, and Owen Eichhorst won the most valuable player award.
On the U-11 team, Brare Niefer won the most improved award, Jaxon Brander won the most valuable player award, Kade McCulloch won the most dedicated award, Sophie Douglas won the most sportsmanlike award, Tanner Yvon won the goalie of the year award, and Kolsen Knutson won the most spirited and most dedicated to hockey award.
The Kamlah family won the Hockey Family of the Year award, brothers Wyatt and Hunter McDonald each won the Referee of the Year award, and the Coach of the Year award went to Mike Howden.
The U-11 team took the award for the team that made it the furthest during the season.
President Feenstra said, “It’s always rewarding developing players and coaches to their highest potential (and) along the way witnessing kids and families build unique friendships and a strong sense of team spirit and community.
“We will continue to strive to ensure that players develop fundamental life skills such as hard work, self discipline, dedication, courage, teamwork and leadership on and off the ice.”
Cremona Minor Hockey did not hold a year end banquet this year, although teams did give out individual awards to team members, said president Matt McKinnon.
