DIDSBURY - A 23-year-old man is facing numerous charges after Didsbury RCMP executed a search warrant on a local residence, seizing cocaine and other drugs.

The raid took place Sunday, March 21 and involved an extensive search of the Didsbury residence, said Didsbury RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.

The drugs seized are suspected to be 725 grams of cocaine, 101 grams of fentanyl, and nine grams of methamphetamine, he said.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $70,000. Police also seized $15,000 in cash.

“This is another significant drug bust in the area in the last few months. The disruption in criminal activity has had a profound effect on the community,” said Fournier.

Omar Ibrahim Sail, 23, of Calgary, is facing two charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one charge of possession of property obtained by crime, and six charges of failing to comply with release conditions.

He has been remanded in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Didsbury provincial court on March 29.
