Didsbury's open bonspiel marks end of the season

A dozen local teams recently participated in the wind-up event in Didsbury

DIDSBURY — The local curling season recently wrapped up with a wind-up bonspiel hosted by the Didsbury Curling Club.

A dozen local teams came out to participate in the club’s open bonspiel, which was held March 11-13, said Julie Gregg, club spokesperson.

“It was a great weekend of curling,” she said.

All of the teams were guaranteed three games with cash payouts for matches won, complemented by door prizes and 50/50 draws, she said, adding the curlers also got to enjoy a banquet provided by Prairie Whistle Food Co.

All of the three events’ finals were played on the afternoon of Sunday, March 13, she said, adding the bonspiel was the club’s last event for the season.

The A event winners were the Rick Phillips Jr. rink, while the Justin Tersteeg team won the B event and the Scott Sinclair team won the C event.
