DIDSBURY - Town council has passed the 2022 tax rate bylaw, which calls for a residential mill rate of 8.02365, down slightly from 2021’s rate of 8.576.

The move came by way of motion at the May 24 council meeting, held in person and on YouTube. The approval comes after council’s May 10 approval of the 2022 operating budget, which calls for total expenditures of $12,097,450, up from $11,640,764.

“I think we have the best budget we can this year with the cost of growth and providing our expected service levels,” said Hunter. “Operating to the citizens’ expectations is what we are after.”

A tax bylaw can be calculated by dividing the assessment by 1,000 and then multiplying the result by the mill rate.
