DIDSBURY - Two GoFundMe pages set up to help the families of two Didsbury teens killed in a single-vehicle rollover on Dec. 27 have brought in more than $34,000, with one already hitting its goal.
Reid Fisher, also known as Reid Holuk, 16, and Lila Morrison, 14, died when the truck they were travelling in rolled at the intersection of Township Road 292 and Range Road 14 south of Carstairs shortly after 5 p.m.
The police investigation into the fatal crash continues, with police having already ruled out alcohol and road conditions as factors.
Memorial services were held at the Didsbury Zion Church on Dec. 30 for Fisher and on Jan. 3 for Morrison. Hundreds of people attended each service, with friends and family fondly remembering the teens.
“Nothing will take the pain away, but we’re hoping that the family can take the time they need to grieve and not worry about bills, and rushing back to work,” said Erin Brodeur, an organizer of the Morrison page.
“Thank you Didsbury and surrounding area for your support - we know we can count on you. It takes a community and that is exactly what we are here.”
A total of 433 donors had contributed to the GoFundMe pages as of Wednesday morning, contributing a total of $34,385.
Morrison's page had a goal to raise $20,000. It has $20,350 raised.
Fisher's page also has a goal to raise $20,000. Donations currently total $14,035.
