DIDSBURY - The former board chair of Chinook Arch Victim's Services (CAVS) Society is facing a number of criminal charges following a police investigation, says Didsbury RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.
Kelly William Watson, 41, was charged on Dec. 2. The alleged offences took place between Aug. 31, 2018 and May 7, 2019.
The investigation was a joint effort by Sundre, Olds and Didsbury RCMP, said Didsbury Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.
A Carstairs resident, Watson faces counts of breach of trust in relation to defrauding an organization in relation to a vehicle, intent to mislead Registry Services of Alberta, using a document without authority, and theft of a motor vehicle.
"The victim in all these charges is Chinook Arch Victim's Services," said Fournier. "He was the chair of the board of the society."
Chinook Arch Victim's Services, a non-profit organization, provides crisis intervention, support, information and referrals to victims of crime and trauma.
The organization works with all three RCMP detachments in the district.
Watson is scheduled to appear in Didsbury provincial court on March 9 at 9:30 a.m. for election and plea.
