Kansas City Barbeque Society BBQ contest in Didsbury this weekend

More than 30 of Canada’s top barbecue teams battling for the coveted grand champion title

DIDSBURY - The fourth annual two-day Didsbury Lion’s Club charity Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) barbecue contest takes place in town Saturday and Sunday.

The event is scheduled to feature more than 30 of Canada’s top BBQ teams battling for the coveted grand champion title and a chance to compete in the American Royal BBQ and Jack Daniel's BBQ competitions, officials said in a press release.

Public access to attend the event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., allowing attendees to meet and visit with the teams in attendance. 

The KCBS is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbeque, the world’s largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with members worldwide, and sanctions over 400 barbeque contests. 

The event will raise funds in support of the Didsbury Ag Society.

The Didsbury Lions will be selling barbecue lunch, as well as 50/50 tickets and raffle tickets for the gazebo. 

This year’s BBQ event is being run concurrently with the Crooked Horn Junior Rodeo on Saturday. 

Admission is free for both events.

Lions Clubs International is the largest membership-based service club organization in the world, supporting causes of vision, hunger, the environment, childhood cancer, diabetes, humanitarian aid, youth, and disaster relief. 

The Didsbury Lions Club has been in service since 1944 and has supported many projects and groups, including Mountain View Food bank, the Christmas hamper program, high school scholarships, and local disaster relief. 

The club owns and operates the Lions shuttle bus that is available to all.

There will be a Cooked Horn Canadian junior rodeo event in town on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
