Mountain View Colts netminder stands tall as team goes into weekend play

Didsbury-based netminder Chance Griffith commands an outstanding .949 goals against average so far this season

DIDSBURY - The Mountain View Colts are home against Three Hills on Friday, Dec. 16 and then in Red Deer on Saturday, Dec. 17 against the Vipers.

Last weekend, the team won two games and lost one in Heritage Junior B Hockey League action.

Colts first-string netminder Chance Griffith stopped a total of 118 shots during the three games. He now commands an outstanding .949 goals against average so far this season.

The Didsbury-based Colts travelled to Okotoks on Friday, Dec. 9 to take on the Carstar Bisons at the Murray & Piper Arena, coming away with a 5-4 overtime loss in a shootout.

The Colts got goals from Haiden Parks (assist Nate McNeely), Corson Waiting (assists Logan Richards and Trey Stovin), Stovin (assists Paton Rothenbusch and Steven Bell) and Richards (assist Stovin).

Netminder Griffith stopped 41 of 45 shots.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, the Colts travelled to Rocky Mountain House to take on the Rams at the Rocky arena, coming away with a 6-3 win.

The Colts got goals from Richards (assists Corbin Rae and Waiting), Carter Layden (assist Aidan Saunders), Bell (assist Parks), Waiting (assists Richards and Rothenbusch), Carter Hewitt and Richards.

Griffith stopped 40 of 43 shots for the win.

The Colts played host to Airdrie Techmation Thunder on Sunday afternoon in a make-up game from a postponed match earlier in the season, coming away with a 4-2 win.

The Colts got goals from Hayen Sotheran (assist Bell), Jordan Saunders, Southeran, McNeely (assist Saunders and Layden) 

Griffith got the win, stopping 37 of 39 shots.
