DIDSBURY - The Mountain View Colts hope to extend their current three-game winning streak to four games as they face off against the Three Hills Thrashers at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Wednesday.
Longtime coach Gord Olsen says the team is playing well five games into the 2021-22 season, with a record of 3-2 in Heritage Junior B Hockey League action.
“We’ve had a couple good goaltending outings by Isaac Klassen and Chance Griffith,” said Olsen. “We are a fairly young team so that’s going to be a positive going forward. It’s been an effort by committee so far this season and all the guys are playing well.”
After starting the regular season with losses against Three Hills and Red Deer, the team has won the last three, twice against Red Deer and once against Airdrie.
Last Friday’s game against Red Deer saw forward Austin Corsiatto score three goals, including an unassisted marker in the third for the winner.
Captain Lane Rothenbusch currently leads the Colts with 10 points, followed by Corsiatto with seven, Jordan Saunders with five and Carter Layden with four.
“That’s what you like out of your captain,” he said.
Wednesday’s game against the Thrashers gets underway at 8 p.m.
The Colts are in Sylvan Lake against the Wranglers on Friday and in Three Hills on Saturday.
The Colts have implemented the Alberta Restrictions Exemptions Program for all home games, with everyone 18 years or older having to produce valid personal identification with either their proof of vaccination, negative COVID test or medical exemption.
