DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts pulled off an impressive 6-3 win at home on Wednesday to extend their first round playoff series against the Rocky Mountain House Ram.
The Colts were down 2-0 in the best-of-five series going into the game at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.
Forward Steven Bell lead the Colts to the win, scoring three unassisted goals, two in the first and one in the third.
The team also got goals from Simon Leischner (assists captain Cohen Richardson and Haiden Parks), Aidan Saunders (assists Kai Biggin and Mitchell McDermid), and Biggin (assist Saunders).
Colts netminder Brock Lott stopped 38 of 41 shots for the win.
In a game with more than 20 penalties called, the Colts held the Rams to only one power play goal.
Colts coach Dan Visser was not surprisingly pleased with his team’s play.
“I has very happy with how they played and rose to the challenge,” said Visser. “Our penalty kill was great and gave us the momentum to pull ahead.”
The teams face off in Game 4 in Rocky on Friday night.
“We need to bring the same game Friday that we did last night,” he said.
If needed, Game 5 goes at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Saturday night starting at 8 p.m.
