DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts 2023-24 season came to an end Friday with a loss to the Rocky Mountain House Rams in Game 4 of the teams’ first-round playoff series.
Played at the Rocky Arena on Friday night, the game saw Colts forward Steven Bell open the scoring in the first period, with assists from captain Patron Rothenbusch and Emmett Barnett.
The Colts couldn’t score again in the 6-1 loss. Colts netminder Brock Lott stopped 27 of 33 shots.
The win gave the Rams the series, three games to one.
The Rams were up two games to one in the best of five series going into Friday’s matchup.
The Colts lone win in the series came at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Feb. 28, following losses on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.
The Colts 2023-24 regular season record was 17-15-6, good enough for second place in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League’s north division.
Dan Visser is the Colts’ head coach.
“I was disappointed with the results in the playoffs as I believe we could have gone further,” Visser told the Albertan. “But with us being a young team I know all our rookies developed and will be much stronger next year.
“They are all a great group and I look forward to next year. As the season has ended the work has just begun to keep building and looking for players to build our team.”
The Colts’ coaching staff and management will be evaluating the 2023-24 season and looking forward to the 2024-25 season, he said.
