Mountainview Colts in second-place tie after recent wins

The Colts are in a second place tie with Airdrie and the Vipers in the north division, each team sporting 23 points

DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts are in Ponoka for a game against the Stampeders on Friday and in Airdrie for a rare Tuesday night game on Dec. 17.

The Sylvan Lake Wranglers are in first place in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League with 38 points while the Colts are now in a second-place tie with Airdrie and the Vipers in the north division, each team sporting 23 points after last weekend's games.

The Colts won both their games over the weekend, including against the north division-leading Sylvan Lake Wranglers.

The Colts played host to the Red Deer Vipers on Friday, Dec. 6 getting goals from Cohen Richardson (assists Trey Mueller and Hunter Sellers), Corbin Rae (assists Seth Sideroff and Zachary Wheatley), Konnor Poitras (assist Mitchell McDermid and Aiden Saunders) and Haiden Parks (assists Ryder Hammer and James Bartlett) for 4-0 win.

Colts netminder Nicholas Smith stopped all 24 shots he faced for the shutout.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Colts played host to the Wranglers, also at the Didsbury Memorial Complex, getting goals from Rhett Miller (assists Kai Biggin and Bartlett), Sellers (assists Miller and Parks), Cole Irwin (assists Wheatley and Hammer), and Sellers (assists Parks and Biggin) for a 4-3 win.

Colts netminder Smith stopped 22 of 25 shots for his second win in two nights.

Rae and Parks are currently tied for the Colts’ lead in scoring, each with 17 points. Poitras and Hammer are tied for second with 16 points each.
