DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts are home at the Didsbury Memorial Arena Friday against north division rivals Rocky Rams.
“I’m taking this game as a must win this weekend,” said head coach Dan Visser. “It would be a huge bonus to get a win before the holiday break. We have been on the road a lot and it will be nice to be home.
“Hopefully we have a huge crowd on Friday to get the boys pumped up for the game.”
Following Friday’s game, the Colts will be off until Jan. 5, when the team hosts the Ponoka Stampeders.
The Colts' 2023-24 record stands at 8-10-5 after dropping two road games last weekend against two of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League’s top ranked teams.
The Colts faced off against the Carstar Okotoks Bisons in the Murray & Piper Arena on Dec. 8.
Colts forward Haiden Parks got the team’s only goal, his 13th of the season, with assists from Cohen Richardson and Emmett Barnett.
Netminder Jordan McGinnis stopped 49 of 53 shots in the 4-1 loss.
The Colts were back on the ice Saturday, Dec. 9 against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.
Parks again got the only Colts’ only goal, with assists from captain Paton Rothenbusch and Wyatt Bailey, in a match that saw more than 30 penalties called.
Netminder Kyle Allan stopped 30 of 32 shots in the 3-1 loss.
Head coach Dan Visser said the Colts battled well in both games.
“It was a couple tough losses but the boys played hard and saw lots of positives in our game,” said Visser.
