Mountainview Colts win both weekend games

DIDSBURY - The Mountainview Colts outscored Heritage Junior B Hockey League opponents 10 goals to two over the weekend, winning matches against Ponoka and Airdrie.

The Didsbury team hosted the Ponoka Stampeders at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Friday, getting goals from Hunter Sellers (assists Ryder Hammer and Rhett Miller), Hammer (assists Haiden Parks and Miller), Konnor Poitras (assists Tanner Austin and Zachary Wheatley), Jager Hanson (assists Zane Labbe and Seth Sideroff), Miller, Hammer (assists Parks and Cohen Richardson) and Corbin Raie (assists Wheatley and Hanson) for a 7-0 shutout win.

Colts netminder Jordan McGinnis stopped all 18 shots he faced. The Colts managed 60 shots in the match.

On Saturday the Colts hosted the Airdrie Techmation Thunder.

The locals got goals from Labbe, Rae (assist Kai Biggin) and Park for a 3-2 win.

Colts netminder Nicholas Smith stopped 29 of 31 shots he face. The Colts managed 44 shots in the match.

The Colts play host to the Red Deer Vipers on Friday and the Sylvan Lake Wranglers on Saturday, both games starting at 8 p.m. at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.
