DIDSBURY - Cheryl Hunter Loewen, a lawyer by profession, has been selected to represent the NDP in the Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills riding in the 2023 provincial election.
The selection occurred Saturday and pits Loewen against incumbent UCP MLA Nathan Cooper, who has already received his party’s nomination in the riding.
“I am delighted to accept this nomination and so thankful that this community has put their trust in me,” Hunter Loewen said in a press release. “I will do all I can to make this area proud, to listen to the folks in this community, and ensure their views are brought to the table when we form the next NDP government.”
Born in Didsbury and raised in Carstairs, Hunter Loewen works as a volunteer clinic lawyer for the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, and served on the board of Athabasca University, and as an Alberta Citizens’ Appeal Panel member.
She holds degrees in economics and law from the University of Alberta.
“I believe that this community wants a change from the bad choices being made by the current UCP government, and they deserve better,” she said.
The next provincial election will be held in May.
