DIDSBURY - The Town of Didsbury has issued a development permit for the construction of a new $2.9 million health care treatment facility in town, officials said.
In a report to council, chief administrative officer Ethan Gorner said the permit was recently issued to applicant JMAA Architecture Ltd. on behalf of Alberta Health Services (AHS).
The 6,120-square foot (573.4 metres square) facility will include clinics for public health and mental health and will be located at 1210 - 20th Avenue.
“The new facility will include AHS staff offices, two public health clinics, four therapy rooms, two larger group therapy rooms, one shared clinic room for public and mental health,” he said.
It will also include a small day use kitchen for AHS to provide support programs for the community, he said.
“The facility is located adjacent to the existing Didsbury Health Centre and will share parking,” he said. “The building will also include support spaces such as housekeeping, electrical and mechanical rooms.”
The land use zoning for the facility is industrial district, with construction expected to be completed in 2023.
The number of street parking stalls has been pegged at 91.
JMAA Architecture, based in Red Deer, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
